Winter Activities

Here are some of the things you can do in the winter. Either book direct or just ask and we will sort it for you.

Snow Mobiling
If you want some real fun then this is for you! Based up at Serrasaix on the way to Avoriaz, everyday from 5.30pm to midnight, you can experience a 20km high speed guide through the forests. You can choose between a single or double person snow mobile, and the rides take around 45 minutes.

Snowshoeing
If skiing is not your thing, there are a massive number of classic walks in the area for all abilities and aspirations. How better a way to see the beautiful winter scenery in the mountains. There are a loads of mapped trails so you just need to get snow shoes from the shop right next to the chalet and you are off. For the more adveturous, you can hire a qualified snow shoe guide and get trekking! Fullday long with lunch in a mountain chalet, torch-lit treks at night and themed treks that focus on discovering flora and fauna.

Heli Skiing
For those with wider horizons and abilities to match, skiing fresh tracks through knee deep powder, why not give Heli-skiing a go. Only available in Italy or Switzerland, your mountain guide will show you the best there is and then you will be dropped off by helicopter after an exhilarating adventure down the mountain.

Paragliding
One of the best sports out there, and we know the best chaps to show you the ropes. It’s the perfect way to take in the spectacular views over the whole of the Portes du Soleil. Laurent and his team of quality instructors organise accompanied flights, and for those of you who want to take it a step further, there are courses and lessons available for all levels.

Dog Sledding
If you are an animal lover and have a bent for control, leadership and raw speed, this may be for you. What better way to see the forests, valleys and expanses of the mountains than with a bit of ‘mushing’. You will learn basic commands and  how to handle the sled. Then hold on and enjoy the ride! For the less adventurous, just enjoy the experience from the comfort of the sled and be driven into wonderland.

Ice Diving
For the completely insane! Yes you can actually get all kitted up, walk out to a hole in the fabulous Lac du Montriond (just 3 minutes drive from the chalet) and down you go. You will be provided with all the kit, get instruction on sub-aqua techniques and be shown the underwater wonderland in winter.Aquaventure

Night Sledging
A real adventure, raw and exciting! The darkness is only penetrated by the head torches of you and your friends, whilst you whizz down tracks and paths through the forest. Your professional guides will stop from time to time to make sure thatyou are all in one piece and give you tips and instruction on how to get the best out of the sledge on the twists, turns and bumps. Get kitted out, jump on the Pleney bubble lift, up and off you go!
