If you have not tried canyoning, it’s a real adventure. It is a unique form of traveling along rock faces, over boulders, though gullies and cracks and in and out of rivers, pools, streams and the Nyon waterfall. You will get wet as you climb, swim, slide, abseil and jump your way along the routes and get a huge sense of satisfaction and a feeling of happy tiredness at the end of the day. You will have earned your sundowner on our fabulous terrace or balcony before a great evening meal.
Guide Price: €50; 13 years and up; 3hrs.
Halfway between hiking and climbing, the Via Ferrata is one of the leading mountain activities in summer.
Attached to the safety line at all times, you walk along a rock face, sometimes using the rock itself, sometimes using the equipment in place (bar, footrest, footbridge, monkey bridge, …)
Physically demanding, aerial or a bit easier, it’s up to you to choose, there are routes for every level in the area. Technical instruction, safety equipment and guide are provided.
Guide Price: €45; 12 years and up; Half Day.
High Wire Adventure
Just down the valley from the Chalet Ste. Marie is the “Indiana Adventure”. This is a set of treetop wire and platform walks, pulls and crawls that are categorized as Blue, Red and Black. You get fully kitted out in harnesses and safety gear and are given a safety briefing before they will let you off on your own to set off up the rope ladders, along swinging wires and steps between tree platforms, before finishing down a really high “zipwire”. Worth booking but always available unless the weather is poor.
Guide Price: €12 to €23; 2 to 100 years; 2hrs.
Up at Linderets on the top of the Chaux Fleurie lift (on the way to Linga) is a massively high zip wire that seems to be only open in the Summer. We have never accessed it, but will be checking it out soon to see what the MO is. It looks awesome!!
Guide Price: TBA; Age TBA.
We are advised that as from Summer 2015, there is going to be an “Elasticable” located on the old Prodain cable car cable. In essence, you are doing a bungee whilst attached to the cable. You descend at high speed in a harness and at the end of the stretch, you get pinged back to the top again.
Guide Price: TBA; Age TBA.
Grab a wet suite, flippers and a body board and leap into the foamy brine and surf the white water for up to 7km down the Dranse river towards Lake Geneva. It’s a real alternative to rafting for the more active ands most of our rafting partners also have this facility.
Guide Price: €40; Age: 14 and up; 2hrs.

One of the most popular activities in the French Alps and Morzine has some great schools. These usually take off from the Super Morzine lift and cross the town, looking down on the Dereche and landing near the Pleney lift. You can do solo if you have a license or we recommend that you strap yourself to Laurent or one of his amazing pilots and jump off the side of the mountain and enjoy!!

For a small area, we have a fantastic choice of swimming pools and if you get tired of our own private sundeck and plunge pool, why not visit one of our pools, it’s often the only thing the family want to do and they are FREE with the area MultiPass.
The nearest are in the “Dereche” a very short walk down the path from the chalet Ste. Marie, through the trees along the banks of the Dranse. There is a 50m out door pool with outdoor flume and a child play pool, slides and bouncy castle.
If the weather is not so good, there is a 25m indoor complex built in 2012. This has both a child and baby pool with a fitness area, steam baths and saunas.
Further afeild, we have a leisure/fun pool in Avoriaz, with all the bits.
For those of a more adventurous disposition, you can swim in our very own lake Montriond. There is a lifeguarded area and the full 1.5km open water experience. This is where we do our Tri-athlon training and races – watch out for the fishermen!
The 850 sq km of walking and rambling in the Portes du Soliel is simply second to none. Please see our separate section on walking holidays, where we will sort your itineraries out for you. The flora, fauna, alpine environment, clean air and mountain views are just breathtaking. There is something is something for everyone – gentle strolls along the banks of rivers and streams, through forests to covering real distances above the treeline and along ridges to mountain peaks. Lifts are accessible with the MultiPass for just €1 a day.
White Water Rafting
This may sound pretty dramatic – it is!. The rafts travel with a guide down the Dranse river (the same one that is in the valley under the chalet) towards Lac Leman. There are rapids, fast and slow and you get the opportunity to swim, jump off high rocks, check out the wild life etc. At the end you will generally get a set of photos on a DVD to take away. Its a very popular activity. Usually for 7yr olds and above and definitely need to book in advance.
