The Resort

Summer or winter, discover the magic of the Portes du Soleil

Morzine in the Haute Savoie, is the centre of one of the most picturesque, accessible, and well organised Winter and Summer holiday destinations in the French Alps. Originally a slate and gold mining village with a rich Savoyard heritage, Morzine benefits from the attractive architecture that you associate with neighbouring Swiss villages, whose flag it still shares.

It is so, so much more than a ski and summer resort. Morzine is only 1hr 15 minutes drive from Geneva International airport. It is 25 minutes from Thonon, on the banks of Lac Leman, with its wealth of historic villages and the home of French sparkling water – Evian.

A Winter Wonderland

The Morzine Avoriaz massif boasts more than 650km of groomed pistes that weave around 12 villages in France and Switzerland. The uplift is phenomenally fast and queuing is seldom an issue. There are top quality Snow Parks with huge half pipes, extensive “Ski de Fond” tracks, an Olympic skating rink (hosting a Premier Division ice hockey team), tobogganing, ski-dooing, snow-shoeing, ice-diving, overnight refuges, torch-lit descents and if you have the energy, pubs clubs and dancing till the early hours!

There are hidden mountain gems that can take several visits to fully appreciate. Our local knowledge is key to finding them and we advise that you savour the dish slowly, return year on year and build up your knowledge of the fine skiing, quaint villages and quirky mountain restaurants.
